Protect Your Home Fast
Victims of the recent floods have reacted angrily after being told that it is down to them to protect their homes from the rising water.
Norwich Union claims that 95% of people hit by floods last Summer have still not taken precautions to protect themselves from the weather.
With the cost of protecting your home now running into the thousands for flood defences, people argue that these type of precautions are actually pointless and a 'waste of money'. Norwich Union however, like many other insurance companies, have made a point of saying that the price of premiums taken out by customers who have set about implementing precautionary will be reflected in the price.
The Environment Agency and County Councils affected by last Summer's flooding have urged their constituents to heed advice on protecting themselves against flooding and have reiterated that it really is down to the individual to take responsibility.
Many homes are still uninhabitable and residents are calling for help from insurance companies, commercial clean up companies, and general incentives to protect against the elements. It has also been stressed that communities should pull together as in many cases defending your home means that the problem is just shifted 'to the left' and that although your home maybe protected your neighbours may not be.
If you have not been able to protect your home in time and have to make an insurance claim, then make sure that you get the best possible settlement. Whether you are seeking help after a flood or fire, burglary or theft, subsidence or general domestic damage claim, then enlisting the help of a loss assessor can ease the pressure and actually help you to get the best possible pay out.
