Uninsured families left homeless by the summer floods are receiving financial help more quickly than some victims who paid for insurance, it emerged this week.
Policyholders told the Telegraph that Hull City Council had given handouts to help uninsured families return to their homes while they were left waiting for payouts from their insurers.
They said they felt "let down" by insurers and the council - while some policyholders even suggested they were worse off for having arranged insurance cover.
